Routine Care

Routine care, sometimes called preventive care, helps you stay healthy and is something that Kaiser Permanente pioneered in the 1940s. This includes check-ups and screenings to help prevent health problems or find them before they become serious.

What’s the best way to fight a serious illness? Stop it from happening in the first place. At Kaiser Permanente, prevention is built into every step.

It’s not your job to keep track of what kind of preventive care you need. At Kaiser Permanente, it’s ours. Your electronic health record triggers reminders for screenings. Your Kaiser Permanente care team can see a complete picture of your health at every visit. So we’re on top of what you need and can guide you to the right support. Getting care feels easier, moves faster, and everything gets documented along the way. Learn more about how we make getting care easy.

Emergency Care

Emergency care is for medical or mental health conditions that require immediate medical attention to prevent serious jeopardy to your health.

Examples include:

  • Chest pain or pressure

  • Severe stomach pain that comes on suddenly

  • Decrease in or loss of consciousness

  • Severe shortness of breath

  • If you think you or your family member has a medical or mental health emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital.
